FAQs
  1. Q. Is Natina a type of paint?
    A. No. Natina contains no pigments of any kind. Natina is primarily a water based solution that contains carefully selected trace elements that are commonly found in soil and/or rock formations. These elements, when combined with heat and sunlight, speed up the natural oxidation process and create color that will last for decades without fading from sun exposure.

  2. Q. Does Natina fade over time from sun exposure or need to be reapplied like a paint?
    A. No. Since Natina contains no pigments it will not fade from sun exposure like traditional paints or stains. However, if physical or chemical abrasion occurs a maintenance application may be necessary.

  3. Q. How long does Natina last?
    A. Natina will last for decades without fading as long as it is not subjected to harsh physical or chemical abrasion.

  4. Q. Can Natina be used over sealed or painted concrete?
    A. No. Natina needs to penetrate and saturate the rock or concrete surface. Any type of paint or sealer will prevent Natina from working properly.

  5. Q. What other surface types can Natina be used on?
    A. Natina is primarily used on rock and concrete but some porous plastics and steel can be treated as well. Sample testing should be done on all surface types to ensure both proper color and surface type compatibilities.

  6. Q. How do I apply Natina?
    A. Natina can be applied with a sprayer (recommended SP1 Sprayer is available on the "Order Now" page) or a paint brush (for more detailed applications). Sprayers and brushes should always be cleaned and rinsed with water when finished.

  7. Q. Is Natina safe to handle?
    A. Yes. Natina is safe to handle, however, we recommend using rubber gloves when mixing or handling because it can stain skin and clothing. We also recommend wearing eye protection when mixing and handling.

  8. Q. Is Natina harmful to landscape plants located near the rock or concrete that is stained? And, can it be used around water or aquatic plant life?
    A. No. Natina is completely safe to use around plant material and actually has been found to improve soil nutrient value benefiting surrounding plants. Yes, Natina can be used to treat rock and concrete around aquatic plant life with no harmful effects.

  11. Q. How much area does a gallon of Natina cover?
    A. This can range widely depending on: the surface type, the target color, and the type of application device used. Generally, using a typical backpack sprayer you will cover anywhere from 400 to 600 square feet of rock or 200 to 300 square feet of concrete per sprayable gallon.

  12. Q. What other colors can Natina create on rock and concrete?
    A. Currently Natina can only create earth tone brown hues that can range from light tan to dark brown/black.

  13. Q. Does Natina have a shelf life?
    A. No. Natina if stored in a cool dry environment will keep indefinitely.

  14. Q. What is the pH level of Natina as applied and is it safe? Will it change existing soil pH levels?
    A. Natina's pH levels, even in concentrate form, are completely safe. Depending on dilution rates (determined by surface type and target color) our pH levels as applied are in the range of 4 - 5. Our solution contains only soft organic type acids that will not change existing soil pH levels.
